Cross-platform app development has changed the way enterprises and small businesses consider building an online presence. It has made mobile app development faster, easier, and more cost-effective, as it enables the creation of a single codebase that runs across various platforms and devices. While there are many software and frameworks for developing cross-platform apps, JavaScript remains the most popular choice for cross-platform development.
The reasons are clear – a huge JavaScript ecosystem, its foray into frontend development, and the ubiquity of JavaScript. This has increased the popularity of JavaScript-based frameworks and libraries, such as React, Node.js, Vue.js, and AngularJS, among others.
We are here to discuss one of the most popular roles in React Native app development – React Native Developer. In this article, we will discuss React Native developers, their skills, roles, responsibilities, common interview questions, salary expectations, and other relevant topics.
React Native Developer: What Is The Role Of A React Native Developer?
Before we delve into the role of a React Native Developer, let’s first understand who a React Native Developer is and what skills are required to become one.
Who Is a React Native Developer?
A React Native Developer works with the React Native framework to build user interfaces (UIs) for various platforms. They are frontend developers who possess strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, enabling them to create user interface (UI) components.
A Quick Introduction To React Native:
React Native is an open-source UI software framework created by Meta Platforms, Inc. It is widely used to develop applications for Android, Android TV, tvOS, Web, Windows, iOS, macOS, and UWP. It offers native platform capabilities to build natively rendered apps for iOS and Android using the same codebase.
It is a very popular JavaScript-based framework that is widely used by well-known organizations and new startups around the world, including Instagram, Facebook, Shopify, Tableau, Discord, Flipkart, Skype, Tesla, Uber, Walmart, Salesforce, and many others.
React Native Developer Roles And Responsibilities
What Does A React Native Developer Do? They build UI components of mobile applications.
Essentially, a React Native developer possesses a potent blend of JavaScript and native platform skills. They work on the frontend part of the app, but at the same time, they require knowledge of API services, cross-platform compatibility, and the application’s infrastructure for integration.
Let’s see this through technical perspectives:
React Native Developer Responsibilities:

Why Hire a React Native Developer?
Hiring a React Native developer not only saves your time and costs but also results in improved performance, speed, and user experience.
Here are some benefits of hiring a React Native Developer to build mobile applications:
Cost-Efficiency:
This is obvious as using React Native, you can build a single app for different platforms (Android and iOS). Using the same codebase for multiple platforms yields cost and time savings. Cross-platform development saves time, as it offers maximum code reusability, except for building native UI components.
Great Performance:
While practically no other option can beat native app performance, when you have requirements for cross-platform, React Native is a winner. The architecture of React Native is well-formed and optimized for mobile devices. It utilizes a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) or a more GPU-intensive processing approach, rather than a CPU-intensive one, to deliver native-like performance.
Strong Community:
You will easily find resources, hire react native developers, and leverage a vast ecosystem of React to build mobile apps. It is powered by Facebook and the community that has poured constant efforts and contributions to make React Native the best framework for developing mobile apps.
Faster Development:
React Native is an excellent choice for creating high-quality, native-like user experiences that don’t compromise on quality and functionality. It reduces load time, offers platform consistency, and smooth UIs, making app development quicker. Since only one codebase is used for different platforms, a large amount of code can be reused. This makes app development faster compared to other approaches.
Let’s see how much you can earn if you are a React Native developer in different parts of the world.
